ACCREDITED BOOK CONSERVATOR
Icon Accreditation means that I adhere to a high level of professional standards as outlined here. I have extensive experience in the repair and conservation of a wide range of historical bookbinding styles and formats from the 16th-20th centuries. My approach is to retain as much of the original material as possible whilst carrying out skilful and meticulous repairs that are appropriate to the history, aesthetics and future use of the item.
There are usually several possible treatment options and levels of intervention appropriate to the object, depending on budget and other factors. These are discussed with the client throughout the project so that informed decisions can be made about repairs, housing and storage.
CONSERVATION SERVICES
I offer various additional services such as gold finishing, bespoke handmade boxes, phase boxing of entire collections and conservation mounting for framing and display.
I have a keen interest in photographic preservation and can advise on and carry out rehousing projects in addition to the conservation of photographic materials.
I undertake condition surveys and regularly work onsite on exhibition installations, producing condition reports for valuable books and works of art on paper and providing conservation and handling advice.
I offer an insured transport service and am also able to transport my equipment and materials for onsite working where necessary.
